Strategy, goals, and teams all perform better when work flows clearly and decisions land fast.
Execution starts at the top.
When the owner works with structure, projects move, priorities stay clear, and the whole business builds momentum.
It’s not about effort or hours - it’s about running the right system.
Lift Execution and everything follows.
Execution is not energy. It’s not how many hours you work. It’s not how many tabs you have open.
Execution is your ability to finish meaningful work consistently, cleanly, without being chased.
It’s a skill. And like any skill, it can be measured and trained.
Here’s how I do it:
Execution Score = (Priority × Focus) ÷ Procrastination
It’s not just a clever formula. It’s a diagnostic.
Rate yourself out of 10 for each input:
- Priority – Are you working on the right thing?
- Focus – Are you staying on task, without distraction?
- Procrastination – Are you avoiding or delaying what matters?
Now do the math.
For example:
- Priority = 8
- Focus = 5
- Procrastination = 4
Execution Score = (8 × 5) ÷ 4 = 10.0
Change Focus to 3? You drop to 6.
Push Procrastination up to 7? Now it’s 5.7.
It’s not theoretical. It’s structural.
If your Execution Score is low, there’s a reason.
And more importantly, there’s a fix.
When everything feels important, nothing gets finished. You stay busy, but not effective.
Use DRIP to cut the noise:
- Delegate - Can someone else do this? Let them.
- Repeat - Can I turn it into a system? Build it once.
- Ignore or Defer - Does it even need doing?
- Prioritise or Project - If it matters, treat it like a deliverable.
DRIP forces you to be ruthless with your attention, which is where execution starts.
Focus isn’t about deep work marathons. It’s about clean work blocks.
Most owners spend all day toggling, responding, reacting, and nothing lands with force.
Use RAZOR to cut the noise:
- Remove - Shut down distractions.
- Anchor - One clear outcome. Not a task. A finish line.
- Zero Switching - One thing at a time. No toggling.
- Operate - Get into depth. Not set up. Not tinkering.
- Reset - Finish clean. Step away. Then move on.
One block per day. That’s all it takes to shift your Execution Score.
Procrastination is just friction. The task is vague, risky, or heavy, so you delay.
Use DREAD to break the loop:
- Define the Resistance - What exactly are you avoiding?
- Reduce the Scope - Make the first step so small it’s stupid not to start.
- Engineer a Trigger - Same time. Same place. Same rhythm.
- Anchor to the Why - Why does this matter? No why? Drop it.
- Do It Ugly - Don’t wait to feel ready. Start rough.
Once you’re in motion, the drag disappears.
When execution slips, the business doesn’t collapse. It just slows.
- Tasks hang around longer.
- Projects miss momentum.
- The team hesitates.
- You carry more weight, but make less progress.
You’re not failing. But nothing’s really moving.
And over time, that becomes the norm.
The Execution Score doesn’t just tell you where the problem is.
It gives you the language to fix it.
For the next 5 days:
- Rate yourself daily.
Use the formula:
Execution Score = (Priority × Focus) ÷ Procrastination - Pick the right lever.
- ○ DRIP if Priority is low
- ○ RAZOR if Focus is low
- ○ DREAD if Procrastination is high
- Choose one meaningful task.
- ○ Use DRIP to select it
- ○ Use RAZOR to deliver it
- ○ Use DREAD if you’re stuck
You don’t need a bigger plan. Just better execution.
One clean rep a day. That’s how the score moves.
